Biography
David Martinez joins BYU–Hawaii's Operations division as a Project Manager within Planning, Design & Construction, bringing over 20 years of experience coordinating real estate sales and rehabilitation projects in Southern California. Prior to BYU–Hawaii, David spent two decades as a Broker Associate and REALTOR® with TNG Real Estate. While teaching home buying classes for a consumer credit counseling organization, David began to establish relationships with non-profit housing organizations. These partnerships gave David the opportunity to manage the sales, marketing plans, and construction coordination for residential and multi-unit construction projects. He later served as an Account Manager overseeing multi-island pharmaceutical reverse distribution operations. David holds Hawaii and California Real Estate Broker licenses and a B.A. in Criminal Justice from Cal State Fullerton.
David grew up in the Los Angeles County area, where he and his family were introduced to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. After his own conversion experience, David served a two-year mission in France. Passionate about food, David likes cooking but really prefers the hunt for great food spots. He also finds joy in building friendships with the people who make his food. David and his wife, Melissa, live in Laie and love the community. They raised their two daughters here, both of whom graduated from Kahuku High School. David is excited to bring his project management and relationship-building background to support BYU–Hawaii's mission and campus community.
