Biography
Doug and Teresa met at BYU Provo and have been married for 40 years.
They have five children, three daughters and 2 sons. Their oldest daughter was adopted from Kiribati with help from current General Authority, Elder Iotua Tune. Heavenly Father was determined to get that little girl here before sending them the rest of their children. They have four grandchildren with a 5th joining the family in November.
Doug owned a print shop for 33 years in Provo and Orem, Utah. His printing experience is the reason they were asked to come to the Hawaii Laie Mission. Teresa worked 18 years for the Church in the Welfare Department.
Doug served his young mission in Hong Kong for 18 months and was then asked to come to Los Angeles, California for the last 6 months to open the Cantonese speaking opportunities there. Teresa served her young mission in the England London Mission.
Doug worked as the Lighting Technician for the Lamanite Generation, a BYU-Provo cultural performing group, for 6 years. He visited many countries on several tours duing those years. While touring, the group would do Sunday Firesides. He sang in a group called the Oreos--him being the sweet white middle between two Polynesian members of the group. Sister Hendrickson attended one of those firesides while serving as a young missionary. That was the connection that started their eternity together when they took the same class at BYU.
Doug and Teresa toured with the Lamanite Generation shortly after they were married. They toured Fiji, New Zealand, Australia and Hawaii. Coming back here is a wonderful return to their beginning.

Shortly after retiring in 2023, they served two years in the California Anaheim Mission. Doug was over the cars and Teresa served as the mission secretary. They knew they wanted to serve again, so after coming home, they quickly submitted mission papers and arrived in the Laie Mission less than 8 months after returning from their first mission.
Doug was able to re-connect with some of those he served with and taught on his young mission while serving a senior mission in California. That was a definite instance of seeing the Lord's hand in calling them to the Anaheim Mission. Sister Hendrickson is hoping that while in Hawaii, she will be blessed to unlock some of her Hawaiian family lines.
