Eduard “Eddie” Merc is a proud alumnus and the first Slovakian faculty at BYU–Hawaii.
Prior to accepting a full-time teaching position at the university, he was an assistant professor in management, business analytics, and management information systems at Chaminade University of Honolulu as well as an adjunct faculty member at Hawai`i Pacific University and University of Hawai`i at Manoa. He has spent 14 years teaching various business-related subjects, such as business technologies, operations and business process management as well as in project management and database/computer networking systems.
In his corporate experience, he worked for Bank of Hawaii, United States Tennis Association (USTA), and Nutraceutical Corporation in Park City, Utah. He was also a manager of learning design and development at Hawaiian Airlines for three years, where he developed company-wide leadership training for first-time managers and supervisors.
Lastly, Eddie enjoys his time serving the Hawaii community and the country as a cyberspace operations officer in the Air National Guard of the U.S. Air Force at Hickam Air Force Base in Honolulu. In his free time, he enjoys coaching future young tennis stars as well as play competitive tennis.
