Biography

Being called to BYU Hawaii to support the Construction & Facilities Management program is the inspired culmination of life long experience in the construction industry. A CFM program didn’t exist when I attended the University of Utah but I was the Industrial Arts Sterling Scholar candidate in my high school. After a Spanish speaking mission in the East Arcadia California mission I started my own construction company and was very successful for about 20 years.

I decided to expand my education and enrolled in the Computer Science Engineering program at the University of Utah and was hired by the Salt Lake Community College as an adjunct computer science instructor. After a couple of years the LDS Church called me to manage a new network for the architects and engineers. This lasted a short time and I was then called to be the Latin America International Construction Manager and moved our family of eight to Guatemala City and implemented a construction program in the area’s seven countries.

Ten years later, I was called to work in the Church’s Temple Department as a Planning, Operations and Maintenance Manager for temples all over the world but mostly in Latin America and the Oceania and Asia Rim countries. What an amazing blessing to be serving the BYU Hawaii CFM students as their internship coordinator and being intimately familiar with the temples and church construction needs in their home countries.
