Poerava Brodien Hapairai

Poerava Brodien Hapairai is a new member of the Faculty of Business & Government, Center for Hospitality & Tourism. A Tahitian native, she completed her bachelor's degree at BYU–Hawaii, class of 2007, before starting her career in the hospitality industry. She worked as an event coordinator and reservation manager for luxury brands such as Four Seasons and Relais & Chateaux. She was awarded an AusAID scholarship to complete her master’s degree at the University of Queensland, Australia in tourism leadership. Currently, she is a Ph.D. candidate at Purdue University with a research emphasis on the development of long-term relationships between employees and employers in the tourism industry. She is excited to come back to BYUH and give back by sharing her life and professional experiences with her students. During her free time, she enjoys spending time with family and her husband's cooking.
