Rupp is a Pacific wood carver and educator whose practice is grounded in Indigenous knowledge systems, cultural responsibility, and traditional carving techniques. After relocating to Hawaiʻi in 2017, he began working at the Polynesian Cultural Center as a carver, later serving in a supervisory role within the carving department. Prior to relocating to Hawaiʻi, Rupp worked in management and operations (tire and automotive store), overseeing a multi-employee business with responsibility for long-term planning, budgeting, and day-to-day leadership. These skills continue to inform his approach to large-scale carving work, collaborative projects, and instruction.
