Biography
Benjamin Dean Taylor is an award-winning composer of contemporary concert music. His energetic, adventurous music provides a uniquely refreshing sonic experience for performers and audiences alike. Trained as a trumpet player and pianist, he performs with and writes music for a variety of chamber ensembles, orchestras, jazz combos and big bands, wind bands, and choirs. Taylor has received professional commissions from individuals and ensembles all over the world. His music receives hundreds of performances annually.
Passionate about inspiring the rising generation of composers and musicians, Taylor recently accepted a full-time teaching position at Brigham Young University - Hawaii. Additionally, he is the founder of Music Creators Academy and served as the Program Director for the Indiana University Jacobs Composition Academy from 2021-2026. Taylor holds degrees from Brigham Young University (BM), Bowling Green State University (MM), and Indiana University (DM). He currently resides in Laie, Hawaii with his wife and seven children. When not composing and teaching, Taylor can be found running ultramarathons, playing on the beach with his kids, or doing insane burpee routines.
