Currently working as both a Licensed Psychologist and an Assistant Professor of Psychology in liberal arts university on the North Shore of Oahu.

Extensive background in clinical psychology practice and theory, with strong emphasis in psychotherapy, career counseling, clinical supervision, and data driven decision making. Highly rated among peers as a leader within the community, the psychology department, and on university campus in regards to mental health issues, psychological evaluation, and utilizing psychological principles for the improvement of the organization.

Energetic psychologist with solid history of counseling university students while consistently receiving positive outcome and high ratings from clientele.

CLINICAL / ACADEMIC INTERVENTION

Crisis
Created crisis intervention policy and process for University Community at BYUH. Served as an On-Call-Crisis-Counselor for the 13 years.
Competently responded to an array of different crises over the years such as; suicide, suicide attempt and ideation, self mutilation, overdose, automobile accidents, death, assault, rape, domestic violence, terroristic threatening, psychotic breaks.

Individual Therapy
Consistently provide 20+ hours per week of individual psychotherapy to university age students and their dependents. Clientele have ranged from 8 to 80 years old over the past 22 years. I typically employ an integrated approach in therapy that includes CBT, Gestalt, and Existential approaches.

Child Therapy
Integrally involved in providing therapy for children from throughout the North Shore of Oahu. Most cases have involved assessment for learning disabilities and ADHD. However, I have also become provided treatment of Childhood Depression/Anxiety, Asperger’s, Selective Mutism, Sexual Abuse Recovery, and Anger Management. Frequent use of art and Sand Tray Therapy.

Group Therapy
Created a Communication Skills training workshop that has been the foundation for an on-going structured group for the past 8 years at BYUH. I have facilitated numerous groups over the past years with the following topics; general process, abuse, marital communication, career choices and directions, men’s issues, overcoming addictions.

Couples Therapy
Completing the process of becoming the Gottman Method Couples Therapy Certification Courses. Currently I have completed Level I and Level II.

Academic Intervention
Designed and implemented a three step intervention for students who are struggling academically. Supervised interns in the delivery of the program and measured the outcomes each semester. Demonstrated significant effect using this approach.

SUPERVISION

Graduate Supervision
Supervised 21 PhD level Counseling and Clinical Psychology over a period of past 15 years. Additionally, I have supervised 9 M.S. level interns periodically over 13 years. Supervision has typically included 1 hour per week face to face supervision as well as a 1-hour group supervision with multiple trainees in attendance.

Undergraduate Supervision
Provided supervision for undergraduate students completing internships in the South Pacific in the Psychology Department at BYUH Counseling Services, Church College of Samoa, Liahona High School, and Church College of Fiji.

Counselor Certification Program for CES
Created coursework and internship program for Career and Educational Education CES Counselor Certification Program for schools in the South Pacific. Taught Courses via Satellite to Samoa, Tonga, Kiribati, and Fiji. Provided on site supervision in Samoa and Tonga. This was a part of a program that I created with the Education Department and CES in 2010.
