Biography

Director of Facilities Management | Senior Operations & Organizational Leadership Executive | Veteran Leader with Global Expertise
Jaime Lopez is the Director of Facilities Management at Brigham Young University–Hawaii and a retired senior military leader with over 26 years of experience overseeing complex operations, infrastructure projects, and cross-functional teams across the U.S., Asia, and the Middle East.
In his current role at BYU–Hawaii, Jaime leads the strategic planning, operational oversight, and lifecycle management of campus facilities and infrastructure. He is responsible for ensuring compliance, safety, sustainability, budgeting, and maintenance across the university’s diverse portfolio of physical assets.

Before transitioning to the civilian sector, Jaime served as the Command Senior Enlisted Leader for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers – Pacific Ocean Division. There, he provided senior-level guidance across four engineering districts—Hawaii, Japan, Korea, and Alaska—advising the Commanding General and executive leadership on operational readiness, personnel development, and long-range planning. He also served as a liaison to regional stakeholders, enhancing interagency coordination and mission success.
Throughout a distinguished military career, Jaime held progressive leadership roles across engineering, operations, and combat environments, including:

  • Team & Squad Leader in Hawaii, supporting joint military exercises across the Pacific.
  • Observer/Controller at the National Training Center, evaluating unit readiness in simulated combat scenarios.
  • Drill Sergeant at Fort Leonard Wood, training over 7,000 Soldiers and developing future Army leaders.
  • Platoon Sergeant & First Sergeant with deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan, leading construction and engineer operations in austere settings.
  • Command Sergeant Major at the Battalion and Brigade levels, directing large-scale missions, advisor teams, and operations across the Middle East and Central Asia.

Jaime possesses expertise in facilities management, engineering operations, organizational development, and change management. His leadership philosophy is rooted in integrity, adaptability, and empowering people to succeed, principles that continue to guide his impact in higher education and beyond.
He holds a Master of Science in Management with a concentration in Organizational Leadership from Excelsior College and has completed advanced training in leadership, engineering operations, and resilience development, including the U.S. Army Sergeants Major Academy.
