James Watkins is an Associate Professor currently serving as the Accounting Program Lead. He teaches courses in Financial Accounting, Business Law and Ethics, and Advanced Financial Computing. He joined the BYU-Hawaii faculty in 2011 after an 18-year career as a business litigator in Southern California. He is a 1993 graduate of Brigham Young University's School of Accountancy where he earned both a law degree and Master's of Accounting as well as completing the University Honors Program. In 2018, he was licensed as a Certified Public Accountant in Hawaii. His research centers on the teaching of accounting using computer-aided instruction. Prof. Watkins and his wife, Cindi, have five daughters and four sons.
