Laura Tevaga

Advancement Vice President

Laura Moana Tevaga was appointed advancement vice president of BYU–Hawaii on January 12, 2022. In this role, she advances the university’s reputation, resources, and relationships in support of its prophetic purpose. Her areas of oversight include Marketing and Communications, University Events, Alumni Relations, University Scheduling, and Philanthropies.

With over 30 years of experience in media, marketing, and nonprofit fundraising, Laura brings a deep passion for connecting people, aligning purpose with action, and leaving things better than she found them. Throughout her career, she has built a reputation as a thoughtful strategist, strong team builder, and trusted leader—guiding large teams, leading campaigns that raised millions in donor contributions, and helping organizations grow in purpose, performance, and connection.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in broadcast communications and an Executive MBA from Brigham Young University. Originally from Chicago, Laura now calls Hawaii home. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, socializing, and offering her signature unsolicited advice to her husband, Nofoa, and their two children.

Feki Pouha to Lead BYU–Hawaii Office of Honor

Brigham Young University–Hawaii is proud to announce that Feki Pouha has joined the university as the manager of the Office of Honor. Feki comes to BYU–Hawaii after serving the past two years as the State Representative for House District 47 (Waialua-Kahuku-Waiahole) on O'ahu's North Shore. Feki received his juris doctorate degree from the J. Reuben Clark Law School at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. He also earned a bachelor of arts degree in Hawaiian Studies from BYU–Hawaii. As an undergraduate student, Feki helped build, maintain and sail 'Iosepa, the 57-foot oceanic double-hulled-voyaging canoe of La'ie and BYU–Hawaii. He also served as Student Body President from 2006 to 2007. Feki was born and raised in Hau'ula and served an LDS mission in Uganda, East Africa. He and his wife Kieiki have four children. Also of note, Feki was named after and is the grandson of the same Feki Pouha who was the young missionary companion to Elder John H. Groberg as depicted in the movie, "The Other Side of Heaven."

Title IX Updated

BYU–Hawaii learned on Tuesday, February 21, that the U.S. Department of Education Office for Civil Rights (OCR) is adding the university to its list of more than 227 postsecondary institutions under investigation. These investigations relate to the federal government’s requirements for responding to reports of sexual harassment.

New Vice President of Construction and Facilities Appointed

February 16, 2017
The BYU-Hawaii Board of Trustees has appointed Eric W. Conrad as Vice President of Construction and Facilities at BYU-Hawaii. President John S. Tanner made the announcement at a department staff meeting on February 14, 2017. This new position will work closely with the Special Projects Department (SPD) for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
