Raymond Mapu was born and raised in Laie and attended Laie Elementary and Kahuku High schools. He served his mission in the California Los Angeles Mission. He married his eternal companion, Nina Mapu, in the Laie Hawaii temple in 2004. They have five children, namely, Emmalei, Elayna, Eyring, Easton, and Elias. They love sports. Before working at BYUH, he worked for the State of Hawaii in 2005 as a prison guard at the Oahu Community Correctional Center and then as a custodian at Laie Elementary School. He joined Housing Operations as a maintenance technician, and he loves working as a team. They have a strong and experienced team with tons of knowledge to share. Outside work, he loves coaching, from five-year-old football, baseball, and basketball to big boys football at Laie Park. Raymond is happy to join the BYU–Hawaii ohana and hopes to continue enjoying the many blessings of this community.
