Andrew Toimoana, a senior from Tonga majoring in information technology, recently became the first foreign BYU–Hawaii student to intern in Sri Lanka, gaining hands-on experience with Multiverse Engineering, a Sri Lankan engineering and technology company. His father influenced his decision to pursue the opportunity in Sri Lanka, having previously worked with people in the country and knowing that Andrew could learn from their experience.

BYU–Hawaii has partnered with the Church’s Meetinghouse Facilities Department (MFD), to provide students with first-hand internship experience alongside full-time professionals across the Asia-Pacific region.

At Analytic Design Lab in Plain City, Utah, Dandy Nugraha is learning what it means to solve problems without always having a clear set of instructions. As a software analyst intern, he works across software, digital logic, hardware, research, testing, and technical documentation—experience that is helping him connect his computer science education to the demands of a professional career. Majoring in computer science, this internship provides him with experience that will influence his future career, adding to the stacked arsenal of entrepreneurial experience he’s previously honed himself.
