Heina Hanohano was appointed as the budget director on May 1, 2024. As budget director, Hanohano oversees the development, monitoring, and execution of the university's operating and capital budgets reporting directly to the Administrative Vice President.
Prior to her appointment, Hanohano served as the housing business administrator managing the budgets for university housing facilities, including single-student, married-student, and employee housing. This included forecasting revenues, setting rent strategies for the different rent units, and developing a strategic plan for the maintenance and upgrade of housing facilities. She also taught as adjunct faculty in the Hospitality & Tourism Management Program.
Prior to her time at BYU–Hawaii, Hanohano worked in the hotel industry for 18 years in various roles. Her latest role was executive assistant housekeeper at Hilton Hawaiian Village, where she oversaw the cleaning and maintenance of over 2,000 guestrooms and 22 acres of public space. Hanohano was also part of the executive team that opened the Courtyard Oahu North Shore.
Hanohano is an alumnus of BYU–Hawaii where she earned a Bachelor of Science in information systems. She later earned a Master of Science in business administration from Southern New Hampshire University. She and her husband Clayton have two sons.
