Biography
Leialoha Benson has joined BYU–Hawaii in a full-time capacity as one of our advisors in the Office of Honor. Leialoha Benson is a BYUH alumna having received a Bachelor of Social Work degree in 2004. She continued her social work learning at Eastern Washington University before earning a doctoral degree in Education from the University of Southern California. As a licensed social worker, Leialoha worked at Liliuokalani Trust, formerly known as Queen Liliuokalani Children’s Center, for 16 years. Serving the legacy of Queen Liliuokalani will always be an affection for her as she desires to help young people strengthen their identity and realize their inherent potential. Leialoha has four sisters. Having grown up on the North Shore of Oahu, she is a graduate of Kahuku High School. After converting to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 20 years old, she served a full-time mission in the England Bristol Mission. She enjoys spending time with family and being outdoors.
